Shafin Karim was born in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania in East Africa. His family overcame much adversity and were forced to exit Africa and settle in Canada. They worked hard to ensure survival in a new world. Shafin was studying Counseling and heading towards a Masters Degree when he was hit with the bug during a workshop that questioned his choices.
