Barry Hickey was born on the southside of Chicago. He is the 6th of 9 children. His great great uncle is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle of Sherlock Holmes fame. His grandparents came from Ireland. Barry hitchhiked across the U.S., Canada and Mexico eight times.
