Jorge Luna was born into a family of artists in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His mother wrote children's stories and his father was a requinto and guitar player. They both worked as health-care consultants while raising Monchi, Noris, and Jorge. Being the youngest of the three siblings, Luna was determined to be the first to realize his artistic dream.
