Based on the 1959 novel by Keith Waterhouse, Billy Liar was adapted for a tv series that was first broadcast in 1973 and 1974. It ran for 26 episodes over 2 series. The series starred Jeff Rawle as Billy Fisher, a lowly clerk for an undertaker. Bored in his job, Billy spends his time indulging in fantasies and dreams of life in the big city as a comedy writer. Life at home proves just as boring and his daydreaming provides a constant source of annoyance to his Dad.
