When a child escapes a church's mass suicide ritual in order to kill the Devil, the preacher follows him to the home of science teacher Thomas and Albie Newton, atheists who have just moved into their house in the country. Together with Thomas' childhood friend, Father Martin, the trio must protect the boy from the maniacal minister who wants him dead to complete the spell and destroy Satan. But given the chance to wipe out Evil forever, Father Martin begins to question if protecting the child is the right thing to do in this tale of the darker sides of science and religion.
