KAAJRO is story of Tilgya belonging to an untouchable caste, who has left no stone unturned to find a proper treatment for his ailing wife. Breathing life into her is one of the most important tasks he faces on a daily basis. It is a continuous two hour long journey of a humble man, his love and care for his wife, his service towards society and a lone audacity while the villagers are all set to celebrate much awaited annual festival of Dasshera, the celebration to mark the triumph of Lord Rama over Ravana i.e. good over bad. Tilgya’s wife dies while the celebration is on. He is not allowed to perform his traditional role of playing a dholuk (a local drum) during the rituals and procession, and he is forced to leave the village with dead body of his wife. Tilgya starts an unusual journey by carrying the dead body to bury under Kaajro, a tree which has lifeless existence on the outskirts of the village. At final steps of burial his words fail and tears dry. He is distressed, with an innocent rage that he wants to shatter the social fabric. Film is about the deprivation and mistreatment of the suppressed class in our society going on for centuries.
