After breaking up with Karl Jonathan's mother, he and his father move back to his father's native village. But after having settled, they discover that the whole village has been transformed into a model community of perfect security. Together with Karl Jonathan we experience how all the childre n have been deprived of the freeedom to behave like children. Joined by his firl friend Trine, Karl Jonathan initiates an insurrection against society.
