Maas, a Dutchman, sets out for New York to share a tormenting secret with his ex-wife, who abandoned him and their severely handicapped son eight years before. He scours the metropolis and eventually finds Sarah, who is now the single mother of a healthy three-year-old boy. She now faces Maas for the first time in years.
