Mariam (the Armenian name for the Virgin Mary) is a young Armenian woman who works at a school for the deaf. She is obsessed with her own virginity and behaves so strangely that those around her, even her psychotherapist, cannot understand her. The psychotherapist thinks the only war to cure her disorders is to awaken her sensuality, but Mariam resists the idea.
