When David Ward (a quiet school teacher) learns about the death of his neighbor`s wife, he finds himself compelled to do the neighborly thing and offer his condolences. But when Miller Giles (a former cop with a suspect past) asks David out for a drink, the story turns dark as the two journey through the dark fringes of small town life and into the frightening backwoods of the violent drug culture.
