In January 1999, fifty years after the publication of Simone de Beauvoir's "The Second Sex", a colloquium held in Paris brought together women from 37 different countries. The film shows highlights from the event: testimonies from those close to de Beauvoir, interviews on the role of the "Second Sex" in women's lives.
