A charming girl, in her dress reminiscent of the sea breeze, comes to the main square of a small town. An old song begins and enchants the heart of a young man - A deaf-mute fisherman from Smyrna falls in love with a singer from Chios. "Kaiktsis" as they call him, falls in love with Evdokia when she sings at a party in Izmir. When she returns to Greece, he is unable to forget her, he decides to find her again without considering the cost. One night he swims to Chios and he arrives illegally on the Greek island. Locals and police are shocked to see a stranger who came from the sea without a passport and ID. Evdokia saves him by revealing their secret bond. "Kaiktsis" is released and sent back to Turkey. However, his return to Izmir does not simplify things. His comrades reject him, considering him a spy and "Kaiktsis" is increasingly isolated.
