Vieux Farke Toure was born in Mali, just outside of Timbuktu, on the banks of the Niger River. He is the son of the late guitarist and multi Grammy Award winner, Ali Farka Toure. Ali is a legend in Mali and one of the most celebrated musicians to have come out of Africa.
