The Serpentine Gallery Program is a treasure trove of TV films. They are taken from the late-night programs, which Kluge directs for the german television (dctp). The Première was on September 22, 2006 in the Serpentine Gallery in London. Let's take a look to the program: 1 Minutenfilme / Minute Films Première: 1998, SVT These are very short fragments of several tv programs. It's like a collage. 2 Der flexible Unternehmer / The Flexible Entrepreneur Cast: Peter Berling - Première: February 18, 2001 (RTL) Keyword: globalisation. Fred Eicke, an animal-feed manufacturer, runs a whole chain of companies and foundations that make him a genuine protector of the environment. Eicke is in very poor health because he breathed too much of the toxic, his manufacture uses. He's flexible because he uses the structure of globalization to produce the animal feed in the countries, were it's allowed and then he transports it to Odesse then to Hungary and so on... At the same time he supports an ecological philosophy. This is the flexible manufacturer: Flexible in thinking, health, working, marketing, ethic... 3 Die Liebe stört der kalte Tod / Cold Death Interrupts Love Cast: Alexander Kluge - Première: May 29, 1995 (RTL) Kluge reads poetic texts about death and suicide. It's a very interesting form of television, because it's near the act of reading, only that it's a form of audiovisual reading. 4 Wer immer hofft, stirbt singend / He Who Hopes, Dies Singing Première: March 14, 1999 (RTL) The amazing story of Antoine Billot, who survived an impressive series of disasters, accidents and war events. Kluges subject here is the implausibility of human life. 5 Eine Frau wie ein Vulkan / A Woman Like a Volcano Cast: Alexandra von der Weth, John Fiore, Gabriel Sadé, Jeanne Pilland - Première: October 6, 2003 (RTL) A tragedy at sea in 1881 and Emperor Maximilian of Mexico, Sheffield trade unionists, Schiller and Heiner Müller… a ballad in text and music. The stage-manager was Werner Schroeter!/span> 6 Der Offizier als Philosoph / The Officer as a Philosopher Cast: Peter Berling - Première: January 24, 2005 (RTL) This is another fictive interview and in my point of view one of the best ever. This interview is taking place during the battle of Verdun. Peter Behrling as Eberhard von Erbst is a major and Nietzsche philosopher. They discuss about Nietzsches concept of the "Übermensch", a super strong human. But Eberhard von Erbst must realize, that weapons, tanks and guns have taken over the control. So Kluge suggest to speak of a new concept called "Überding". A phantastic one!!
