Sam wants to start a new family with son Mark and girlfriend Jennifer. However he is driven to despair by her tendency to treat him a bit like a canine friend. Fate then deals a cruel blow when Sam accidentally kills his soul mate Jonathan. Unfazed by Sam's decision to bury Jonathan in their herb patch mystic lodgers Trevor and Tracey hatch a plan to reanimate Jonathan, a fact known to all but Sam who now struggles to hold onto Jennifer.
