There are no Hungarians who don't know the name of János Kádár. But about the era his name highlighted not too many people have a clear picture of, even though it still has a deep influence on current Hungarian trends. This documentary was made to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kádár's death (and the governmental change as well) using mainly news videos, extracts from newspapers, interviews, etc. This film is not aiming to clear every details of the era's contradictions, it is merely a portrait of the political career of János Kádár.
