In Steyerl’s two-channel video work Leibniz’ Skull (2012), a pastor, an anatomist and an antiquarian bookseller discuss the authenticity of a cast of the skull of mathematician and philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Leibniz' Skull is a work on the certainty and uncertainty of forensic identification methods. Exhibited at the exhibition "Mengele's Skull," which is structured around a specially commissioned book of the same title co-authored by Thomas Keenan and Eyal Weizman.
