The delicate and unspoiled world of a sweet and curious 12-year-old girl is shattered when she asks her mother to explain how a woman becomes pregnant. Tradition forbids the sharing of details about puberty and reproduction, so Mahi’s mother is intentionally evasive even though she is aware that Mahi is changing physically and emotionally. As a result of her mother’s misinformation, the innocent girl believes that she must be pregnant because of her encounters with two boys - one a slick charmer from the city and the second a simpleton from her village. Mahi confides in her friend Sarah who quickly spreads the dangerous secret. The people of the village condemn Mahi, assaulting her verbally and physically. But her silence won’t stop the pain.
