A teenager of gypsy race is accused of a crime he has not committed. For that reason, he decides to flee without truce until he reaches the coast. In 1979, Tony Gatlif met with the avant-garde flamenco dancer Mario Maya, Carmen Cortes and other musicians and dancers to reflect on the Spanish gypsy condition. From this desire to unite to defend the gypsy community was born Corre Gitano , the first committed film by Tony Gatlif. Entirely filmed and produced in poor Spain in the 1980s, the film has never been released in theaters.
