When Fuke visits his Uncle Idriz and Aunt Sabiria to fix their water heater, life seems set on a routine and mundane course. Both are preoccupied with household chores but Idriz smokes more than he should and Sabiria cleans obsessively. Fuke decides to go home and bring back a spare heater but his car won't start and he ends up staying the night. The old couple are pleased to have company and Sabiria, a chance to cook. Fuke stays in their son Emin's room, which has been preserved untouched since his death in the war six years earlier. Constructed from the trivialities of the everyday, Pjer Žalica's film perceptively reveals the loss and trauma at the centre of their lives, but also the problems of a new world where you are lucky to have a job and have to learn about computers. Almost imperceptibly, the neighbours are drawn into the story and there are memories of simpler days. Žalica's film brilliantly conveys the characters' inner worlds with a great eye for telling detail. Made with low-key humour and a real affection for its characters, it also looks forward to reconciliation as the mild-mannered Fuke tries to engineer a family reunion.
