"Surfing Favela" was shot with the aid of the communities of Cantagalo and Rocinha; the latter, with its 250,000 inhabitants, is considered the biggest slum (Favela) in Rio de Janeiro. The documentary richly portrays the daily tasks of a group of surfers that helps the youth of their own community to discover in surfing, a direct bridge to freedom and nature. Natalia Bacalini was born in 1972.Between 1991 and 1997 she studied communication sciences.In 1997 he completed a series of documentaries about rural education.From 1998 to 1999 she has worked for a television program entitled "Volver Rock",a Volver channel broadcast.In the last years she has continued to work with television,documentaries and videos. Maximiliano Ezzaoui was born in 1969.He started as a director's assistant for the documentary El paìs de los seis continentes. He then works for television and he starts realising commercials. In 1998 he founds Elzocalo Productora Multimedia Independiente with which he produces several documentaries, among these Historiàs de un dìa (2001), Malandras (2003).
