A mockumentary about the discovery of a machine capable of photographing dreams, made by a retired sub-engineer named Babai. The old man, an Ada Kaleh island, half Turk – half Romanian native, dreams that the island’s Mufti draws him, in sand, near the Danube, a treasure map; however, every time, the dreams ends with the Danube washing away the drawing, both from the sand and his memory. He thinks that the barrage he helped build was nothing more than an excuse for Ceauşescu to relocate the Turks from the island, so that he could steal their treasure. The only one who believes in him is his 13 year old grandson, Andrei, who helps him make the machine. When Babai’s daughter, the boy’s mother, who lives in Italy, decides to take the boy with her, Babai throws a fit before even showing them the machine, and refuses to go on with the documentary. Even though Andrei decides to leave for Italy, unable to understand his grandpa’s rage, he secretly shows the filmmakers how the machine actually works.
