In 1969, Robert Kramer makes a trip to North Vietnam, from which his film, People’s War, emerges. In 1992, he goes back to Hanoi to conduct a film workshop. Starting Place is the outcome of reflecting on the past, reuniting with the interpreter and cameraman he collaborated with in 1969, and meeting Vietnamese people he knew at that time.
