When president Juan Peron was driven from power in Argentina by a military junta in 1976, the new regime installed a police force that was selected to keep order at any cost. A number of Argentinean policemen were known for using deadly force at the slightest provocation, and after the junta collapsed in 1983, many of these rogue cops remained on the beat.
