In 1946 celebrated Dutch documentary filmmaker Joris Ivens defied his government and made a radical film supporting Indonesian independence. This new feature documentary revisits the impact of this small film on emerging Australian film culture and Australia's early relationship to its northern neighbour. Indonesia Calling enunciated new possibilities in Australia's dialogue with Indonesia.
