By turns engaging and bittersweet, filmmaker Peter I. Chang's 2006 documentary chronicles the life and career of Hisao Shinagawa, a 60-year-old singer-songwriter who's never given up his wistful aspirations of success in the music business. Despite living on the edge of poverty, Shinagawa--the self-styled "Japanese Bob Dylan"--continues to look for an audience among those who stroll the streets of Los Angeles.
